Pocklington 2nd XI sponsored by A&M Removals of Pocklington were on the road this week and faced Eastrington 1st XI. After winning the toss, captain John Chaplin unsurprisingly elected to field first on what can only be described as a bowlers paradise after the pitch had seemingly been left open to the harsh weather in midweek.
It proved as tricky as predicted for the batters and Pock eventually had the hosts 87-9, the last wicket stand was problematic though for Pock and ultimately costly as they managed to get the home side to 119 before being bowled out. Josh Tanikal (5-38) the pick of the bowlers with a five wicket haul. Geoff Woodward (1-13) went for only just more than a run an over from his 12 over spell whilst Lewis Chaplin (2-17) and Ben Lister (2-26) picked up the others. Joss Room was also at his best in the outfield with four spectacular catches.
With two good opening bowlers the hosts made in roads into the Pock line up as the reply struggled and wickets fell at regular intervals.. Martin Stables (46) led the team early on before he was bowled with the score 61-6. John Chaplin (40*) played a captains innings but eventually ran out of partners just shy of the target as the 2nds were all out for 116.
A disappointing defeat but still four points added onto the table and again lots of positives to take into next week where the 2nds look forward to another home game this time against Ledsham 1st XI.
