PCC 4th XI sponsored by A & M Removals travelled to Selby to play their Selby counterparts.
As the club were tasked with getting all 4 sides out on one day, this was a different looking 4th team. Skipper Lee Dobbins lost the toss and the home side opted to bat on a greenish wicket. All the Pock bowlers bowled well, with Jonny Hollingsworth providing real pace (1-37), Dave Fairhurst his usual guile (1-51) and youngsters Lucas Tanikal (1-23) and Cole Dobbins (1-21 and his first senior wicket). Evie Nightingale with 2 wickets off No balls can consider herself very unlucky not to have grabbed her first senior wickets for Pock. Young debutant Jack Slater bowled well and fielded like a demon on a troublesome outfield, Selby's Stan Bugg batted wonderfully for his 70 and held the innings together as Selby finished on 210-4.
Pock's reply never really got going, Skipper Lee Dobbins (18), Dave Fairhurst (16) adding to his wicket and catch earlier, Mike Gear on return after more than a year away with illness (13 n.o.) the only players to get into double figures and the side was all out for 94. We fielded 3 sets of parents and children for this game, which was played in the most excellent of spirits.
The 4ths return to action this Sunday, at home to Dunnington, a game that was decided with 1 ball to spare earlier this season.
